Haviva Jacobson at the Frauenpavillon – Summer Studio, July 2026

For several years now, Haviva Jacobson has been exploring and observing a variety of places. Sometimes these are cities, sometimes nature within cities, and sometimes nature in its purest form. She observes these environments from the perspective of flora and fauna and transforms her impressions into works of art.

The Women’s Pavilion, situated in the heart of St. Gallen’s City Park, offers the artist a new place to observe and work. Using her artistic methods, she will explore and depict this bustling space.

On Saturday and Sunday, 25 and 26 July, the doors of the Frauenpavillon will be open to all visitors from 11 am to 5 pm.

Haviva Jacobson – Nuances

Arriving in Paris Haviva Jacobson wanders through the city. She observes life in the metropolis and discovers narrow alleys and hidden squares. Between visiting museums and galleries, she savors the “joie de vivre” on the streets and finds relaxation in Paris’ gardens.

The shades of colors in Paris unfold before her eyes. There are many nuances of white, light brown and gray. They appear repeatedly and shape the cityscape of Paris.

Haviva Jacobson therefore decides to create a work on the theme of nuances. She dyes delicate pieces of paper with various household remedies and collages them together into a large-format sheet of paper. This can serve as a finished work or as a base material.

With the arrival of spring Paris reveals itself in all its splendor. The gardens and boulevards are ablaze with color. This inspires the artist to expand her methods. She produces natural dyes from leaves, grasses and flowers, dyes pieces of paper and creates a garden scene. The intensity and varied nuances of these natural dyes create a vibrant natural phenomenon.

IKEBANA transposes Warteggpark into the cabane, creating nature in the art space. The surrounding park is both an inspiration and a model. Haviva Jacobson selects plants there, arranges them in layers under transparent foil and traces their living lines and connections. This creates multidimensional interpretations of the natural environment which playfully challenges our perceptions and aesthetic hierarchies. What catches our eye in nature eludes it in the artistic composition – and vice versa.

IKEBANA invites us to see nature with a new perspective.
